Webinar Syllabus:

The internet’s virtual environment has become an essential part of any commercial business, especially in times when physical contact is still subject to limitations. In many instances, the behavior of businesses and consumers has shifted to prefer the online environment to the offline environment, from remote office work to leisure, and even (grocery) shopping. Intellectual Property protection has also been affected by this shift facing a dramatic surge in online IP right infringements, also in the context of Plant Variety and Patent rights.

In this webinar, Philippe de Jong and Peter Blomme will share valuable insights regarding the IP issues arising in this online context, including:

  • What is an online IP infringement, and is it different from an offline infringement?
  • Who can be sued for online infringements (with attention to intermediaries such as online platforms, shops, and marketplaces)?
  • Where and how can you react if you are the victim of an online infringement?
